Finished up my two scythes awhile back. The cool thing about these guys is that the little bit that makes it either a Doom or Night Scythe go in the same spot and can be swapped out without magnets. So now I can configure them however I want. The models went together pretty easily actually and painting them was fairly straightforward. I continued to evolve my patina technique and worked on making my tarnished gold a little more subtle. With two of these guys I don't think I would need anymore. I can see maybe getting another one, but realistically I won't use all of them in the same game so it probably wouldn't be worth my time.
Speaking of purchasing more Necrons, I pulled the trigger and finished getting everything I plan on getting. 5 more deathmarks (so I can have a unit of 10), 5 destroyers, 1 destroyer lord, a ghost ark, and another 10 immortals that I intend on arming with tesla (I'm embracing the lightning). There are a few special character models I may get down the road, but I'm pretty comfortable saying that I'm done buying robots. Once everything is assembled I will have just under 4000 points without purchasing upgrades. Necrons are pretty customizable so I figure all decked out I can get close to 5000 points without much of an issue (who wants to play apocalypse?).
To go along with all of those robots I got a new "Big Beef" bag coming from battle foam loaded up with robot pillows. By November I want to see how close I get to having everything completed.

I tried washing over the black-green I use to tarnish the gold, it looks more subtle then the work on my monolith, but at the wrong angle is just looks dirty. |
