Some games

Just a quick recap of a few games I played last weekend.  Josh, Adam, and I met up at the nerd bunker and played a few 2 v 1 games.  It was a lot of fun and Adam's new desert board is really cool.

First, I played 1000 points of Necrons vs. 500 points of Imperial Fists (Josh) and 500 points of Black Templars (Adam).  I don't know what to say about this game...the evil robots dominated.  I'm not sure if it was luck, codex creep, or my stellar generalship (probably not the later).  Essentially, I put my entire army in a corner and castled up while I sent my squad of wraiths to go kill shit.  The wraiths as always did great (they got Josh's thunder hammer termie's and some of Adam's tactical marines).  They're pretty much an easy button unit.  Just throw them out in the open and let them soak up fire and they will most likely eat a unit or two in assault.  The rest of my army did very well also.  I used my triarch stalker with a bunch of tesla immortals, a ghost ark with warriors and an annihilation barge in order to twin link everything.  This worked great (except my ghost ark got immobilized on turn 1 in terrain), with the twin linking I was able to pour massive amounts of fire power into a unit of marines each turn and with all the tesla I was hitting extra times and at a decent strength.  By concentrating on a 1 unit a turn I was able to eliminate units 1 per turn for the most part.  In the end the pure pew pew of my list was too much for the combined marine army.  It was a kill point mission and I believe the score was lots-0 in my favor.

Wraiths, being all gross and hated on by haters.

The rest of my army, unleashing the pew.  Side note from the game, Adam hates everything about the Necrons...every Goddamn thing.
The second game saw my robots teaming up with Josh's Tau against 1000 points of Black Templars.  Once again the templars were defeated but this time it was all Josh.  I put 10 warriors on the board and then had a squad of immortals with an overlord in a night scythe that didn't come on until turn 4.  I believe my warriors killed a terminator or 2 with lots and lots of rapid fire, but that was about it.  The Tau managed to wreck face from range until Adam was basically out of troops (it was an objective mission).  By the time my army got on the table I was able to kill two marines with my immortals and grab an objective to seal the deal, but by that point Josh had broken the spirit of the Templars.

Besides those two games, I finished my stalker, my game board is done, and have started painting a few blood angels!  I was playing around with the thought of selling them, but I really want to try them in the new edition and I feel like one should always have a marine army, just in case.  Beyond that, I'm pretty excited about the Horus Heresy books from forge world.  I'm not sure I will heavily invest in anything for it, but I've always like the imagery associated with the Death Guard (before they got all those flu like symptoms and the pots and the boils and the yuck).  Depending on how he looks I may get the Mortarian model just to paint him (and maybe some of those sweet ass old looking terminators).
